Very Sad Day
Hi this is Balboa's mommy, Karen.
I am crying so much that it is difficult to type, but I know I am doing the right thing for both boys.
It seems that Balboa has been traumatized by Santino. Santino has been attacking and hurting Balboa to the point that he running and hiding from Santino, refusing to eat or drink, or look at me. The vet says he is depressed. It is in both Balboa's and Santino's best interest that I find another home for Santino. The vet assured me that Balboa will be fine as soon as things return to their normal routine.
I called the Boston Terrier Rescue Club of CT. They have assured me that Santino will be placed in a loving foster home until a suitable and forever home can be found for him. When he is adopted I will be notified. Santino and I will be meeting the foster mother today, I will bring his crate, food, treats, toys, and beds.
Santino is a lovely, affectionate, beautiful little boy. I know that this rescue group will help find him a mommy and daddy who will give him the life that he deserves.
My husband and I have learned a lesson. We now understand Balboa's need to possibly be the only dog. If we were to adopt in the future, we would make sure that we have home numerous visits in which the two dogs can meet and approve of each other.

That is sad news :(
I am sure you are doing the best thing for both dogs. Better now than 6 mos. down the road when everyone is really attached.

Karen I'm so sorry! I can understand how you feel. But you're right - as difficult as it is, they both will be happy now. Puppies are resilient and Santino will be thrilled with his new family, and Balboa will be back to normal soon.
*hugs*
Hi Karen...
You are doing the right thing. Really. A friend of mine is going thru exactly the same thing right now. It is really hard. But know you are doing the right thing for you, Santino and most importantly Balboa.

We are so sorry that things didn't work out. We think that you are doing the right thing though, and we're sure it will all work out for the best. That being said, we understand how hard it must be for you. We'll keep you, Balboa, and Santino in our thoughts.
~Hugs~
Hello Karen and Balboa
Nice to meet you. We're sorry to hear about this and that Santino didn't work out. I know you want the best but sometimes, things like these happen so don't be too hard on yourself. You tried and did your best.
Best regards
Eve (the human owned by Fei, the dog)
Awww, I am so asd to hear about Santino. There's a good home out there for him though, I am sure of it.
Hi Karen,
I know exactly how you feel. A little over a year ago, I adopted an adorable Basenji/Shiba Inu mix from the pound, brought the 5 month old cutie home and named him Paco. I just assumed he and Twix would get along and be the best of buds. I was wrong. Twix hated him. He, too, ran away from him, but unlike Balboa, Twix attacked Paco over and over again. It was getting to the point where I was worried about Paco's safety and Twix's emotions, of course. I had no choice but to bring him back to the pound since I couldn't find anyone I knew to adopt him. It was one of the hardest things I had to do.
At least you are giving Santino to a foster home, not the pound, like I had to do. He won't feel sad or anything, he's still a puppy and he'll get over it really fast. Just think of it this way: you were like a vacation for Santino! :) Don't be so hard on yourself; you're doing the best thing for Balboa and that's what really matters!

I went through the same thing with the first dog I tried to adopt as a companion for Buster after Lucky died. She was in the house for only 2 or 3 days and we just had to give her up...now I am fostering a little girl and the situation is so much better!

this is sad news but you guys have done the right thing and I am sure santino will find a wonderful home. The doofus got a second chance and ended up with ME!? how much luckier can a dog get?!
awww, we are sorry, our mommy has gone through a good share of doggie conflicts and had to give back a doggie before so it is tough she knows, our hearts are with you as it is such strain on emotions to attach and detach, much lovies.
This is a really sad news! Santino is just a little boy, he doesn't know what he is doing wrong. But I think you're doing the right thing auntie Karen! He better find another much suitable & loving home where he will only be the only dog in the household. Balboa, hope you're fine now. Don't be afraid of him, he's way smaller than you & definitely can't dominate you.
Santino, good bye boy! Be good!
Lots of hugs & licks to you,
Solid Gold Dancer
Karen, I know how hard that must have been for you & I commmend you for putting Balboa first. They will both be better off in the long run & I'm sure BT rescue will find Santino a great home.
I'm sure Balboa is happy to have him Mom & Dad all to himself now!

Dear Karen,
So sorry to hear about little Santino, I hope that he finds a good loving home. Sometimes it isn't possible for two dogs to be in the same home. I think this is the same for my little Billy, because when we adopted Gizzi, trust me Billy didn't enjoy having him at the house. When Gizzi comes to visit, Billy is not pleased at all. This makes me rethink my position about adopting another one for our home.
My friends tell me I did my part in rescuing one, but gosh it would be so great to rescue more.
I feel for you as I'd be heartbroken as well. But you are doing the right thing. He will have a loving home:)
BIG hugs from Billy's mom:)
